Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information AI Detector collects when you visit detector-ai.org, how that information is used, and the choices you have. It covers the tool itself, the guides and every other page on detector-ai.org.
Who we are
detector-ai.org is the home of AI Detector, a free AI detector that works in your web browser. The operator of the site is responsible for your information, and the quickest way to reach them is by email at [email protected]. The operator is the “controller” of that data in the sense used by the GDPR.
Information we collect
Nothing on detector-ai.org requires an account, which means we hold no profiles, passwords or billing information. The AI detector runs in your browser and does not send what you enter to our server; features that rely on an outside service send the needed input directly from your browser to that service, as described below. Besides the requests to outside services listed below, the data involved is technical — server logs, analytics and advertising — each described below.
External services used by the tool
For features that need external data, your browser sends a request straight to cdn.jsdelivr.net. That request contains only what the feature needs (for example, the text, address or image you chose to check), together with your IP address and ordinary browser headers. The service handles the request under its own policy, and nothing about it is passed back to us.
The same applies to us.aws.cdn.hf.co: it receives only the search text or coordinates it needs, plus your IP address, and handles them under its own policy.
About cookies
A cookie is a small piece of data that a site, or a service used by the site, stores in your browser, and similar technologies include pixels and local storage. Our own pages do not set cookies. Cookies on detector-ai.org come from analytics and advertising providers. If you block cookies, the site still works; you may simply see less relevant ads.
Visitor statistics
To learn how visitors use detector-ai.org, we rely on two analytics services: Yandex Metrica and Microsoft Clarity. The data they gather includes pages viewed, visit length, referrer, browser and device details and a coarse location derived from your IP address.
We also use their session replay and heatmap features, which show clicks, scrolling and pointer movement, to see which parts of the AI detector are hard to use. Both services use cookies, and the data they collect is governed by the privacy policies of Yandex and Microsoft. We review the reports to improve pages and do not try to work out who individual visitors are.
Logs kept by our server
Each time a page is requested, the web server writes an entry to its logs, as web servers normally do. Each log line records the IP address, browser user agent, time and requested page. Their purpose is security, error diagnosis and aggregate statistics.
Advertising
AI Detector is free because it shows ads. These ads come from third-party networks, which may set cookies and read device information such as your IP address and browser type to pick ads and measure results.
Depending on your settings and location, the ads you see may be personalised based on your activity on other websites. Your tool inputs are never shared with ad networks, which process their own data under their own privacy terms. Opt-out tools from the advertising industry, available at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu, cover many networks; browser cookie settings work as well.
Legal grounds under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests in running a secure, working, ad-funded website, weighed against your rights.
- Replying to you: if you write to us, we process your email to deal with it.
Data transfers abroad
The services we use, including hosting, analytics and advertising providers, may process data in countries other than your own. Data protection rules in those countries may not be the same as in yours.
How long data is kept
Information is kept only while it serves its purpose; server logs are rotated out after a limited period unless they are needed to investigate misuse. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up. Yandex, Microsoft and the ad networks apply their own retention periods.
What you can ask us
Data protection law in many places gives you rights over your data: access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and the right to object. Consent you have given can be withdrawn whenever you like. As there are no accounts, it helps if you tell us your IP address and roughly when you visited, so we can locate any relevant records.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular where you live or work. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
California privacy rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA and the CPRA: to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense: we never hand over visitor data for money. That said, ad cookies used for personalised ads may be treated as “sharing” under California law. Opting out is possible through the Global Privacy Control setting in supporting browsers, through your browser's cookie settings, or by writing to us. You will not be discriminated against for exercising any of them.
Keeping data safe
All pages on detector-ai.org are delivered over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to the server and its logs is limited to the people who run the site. No method is completely secure, but what you enter into the AI detector never reaches our server.
Children's privacy
The site is meant for a general audience and is not aimed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK). No personal information is knowingly collected from children. Parents or guardians who think a child has contacted us can ask us to delete that information.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change, for example when we add or remove a service. Whatever appears here is the policy that applies.
